Fun-A-Thon Celebration Event

It’s Fund-A-Thon season: the time of year when RIAF supporters get together to raise money to support the hundreds of Rhode Islanders who need our support. We can’t do it with out you. Help us raise $65,000 for abortion access.

Fund-A-Thon is a little different this year. It’s not just an event, it's a season of fundraising for abortion access, powered entirely by people like you. Instead of asking for donations, we're asking YOU to tap your networks and build a wider community of support for abortion access in Rhode Island — without us. It's part of our mission to ensure all Rhode Islanders have access to the abortion and contraceptive care they need. The best part: all donations (up to $32k) from now until May 31st will be DOUBLED.

This year, everyone who raises $100 through Fund-A-Thon, or makes a $100 contribution at the door, is invited to our celebration event at The Dusty Planet. Join us for food, mini-golf, arcade, and prizes!

We’ll answer your questions, and you can meet fellow fundraisers to get inspired together. Plus, if you sign up as a fundraiser before or during the event, we’ll buy ya a drink.

Preconceived Documentary Film Screening

The Rhode Island Abortion Fund and Women’s Fund of Rhode Island invite you to a special screening of Preconceived, a compelling documentary that exposes the deceptive practices of so-called “pregnancy resource centers.” These facilities—often referred to as “fake clinics”—present themselves as supportive spaces for pregnant people but instead work to dissuade them from accessing abortion care.

Preconceived follows the journeys of Maleeha and Maria, two women who, while navigating unplanned pregnancies, unknowingly sought help from these centers.

Their experiences provide an intimate look into how misinformation and coercion can impact reproductive decision-making. The film is a critical reminder of why access to accurate, unbiased healthcare information is essential.

Feminist Book Launch to Benefit RIAF

Please join us at Riffraff Bookstore + Bar in Providence on December 5 at 7pm to celebrate the launch of Stephanie Gorton’s book, The Icon & the Idealist: Margaret Sanger, Mary Ware Dennett, and the Rivalry that Brought Birth Control to America.

Stephanie, a long time RIAF volunteer and local Providence author, will be in conversation with the brilliant Jodie Noel Vinson, talking birth control, history, feminism, and feuds.

$10 from every copy of The Icon & the Idealist sold at the launch will be donated to RIAF! Come party & shop for a good cause!

13th Annual Bowl-a-Thon

The Women’s Health and Education Fund (WHEF), a Rhode Island-based nonprofit that exists to ensure safe, legal abortion and birth control methods are available and financially accessible to all Rhode Islanders, is calling for teams and individuals to register for the 13th Annual Fund-a-Thon taking place on April 30th at Meadowbrook Lanes in Warwick, RI, from 3pm-6pm. WHEF will be one of many funds across the nation participating in the National Network of Abortion Funds (NNAF) Fund-a-Thon throughout the month of April.

Anyone can register to create a bowling team or join an existing team and help WHEF raise the critical funds and awareness needed to make reproductive freedom a reality.  A team consists of four to six people per lane (over 6 members will receive additional lanes!).

This year, all donations received by May 2, up to $50,000, will be matched by NNAF.

Your friends aren't around that weekend? Register anyway and bowl with the Spare Balls (a team made up of solo bowlers ready to make a difference)!

All funds raised go directly to help Rhode Islanders pay for contraception and abortion care. Because WHEF is all-volunteer, over 95% of donations go directly to funding.

There is no fee to register for the event with a fundraising goal for each bowler of $50. Each registered bowler will receive a personal fundraising page to share and help with requesting donations from their friends, family and colleagues.

Providence's Flatbread Company has agreed to host us (thank you for the support!) and will be donating food. We'll have swag and of course ... ART! WHEF's 2022 Fund-a-Thon

WHEF is partnering with other members of the National Network of Abortion Funds to host a local fund-a-thon to strike down barriers to emergency contraception and abortion care in communities across the United States. This is WHEF's primary fundraising event, and while we are sad to not see your faces in person this year, we are excited to join you virtually! WHEF invites all supporters to consider creating or joining teams to help raise awareness and critical funding for reproductive health in Rhode Island.
